Accountability and Efficiency in Government

In the last eight years, there has been no accountability in the federal government. Huge pork-barrel spending projects, an expensive and mismanaged war, and exploding entitlement expenditures have pushed our national debt to nine trillion dollars–and growing.

We are passing a $30,000 debt to every single child in America. We need to take our children’s financial future out of the hands of foreign creditors. As an economist, I know that we must balance the budget, pay down the debt, restore the strength of the dollar, spur investment, foster capital accumulation, create high-paying jobs, and restore fiscal responsibility. This is vital to the future of our economy, the solvency of social security and medicare, and our very sovereignty and independence as a nation.

In Congress, I will work across party lines to pass a comprehensive deficit reduction agenda, which will include:

  • Legislation requiring full disclosure of all earmarks and the earmarking process.
  • Adopting an accounting system that gives the American people a much more accurate picture of the nation’s finances.
  • Legislation requiring that records of all non-classified federal expenditures be posted online.
  • A comprehensive review of federal government operations to weed out inefficient and outdated programs in all departments.
  • Support for the long-overdue modernization of the Federal Government’s operations using information technology.

Help us bring accountability to Congress. Make a contribution now!
